Nature Walk at Heron's Nest Nature Park

    Wednesday, February 25th @ 8:00AM - 10:00AM

🌿 Guided Nature Walk at Heron’s Nest Nature Park
    Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.

Join Mary Alice Curtiss of the Sarasota Audubon Society for a free guided nature walk around Heron’s Nest Nature Park in Lakewood Ranch. This leisurely, nature walk focuses on birdwatching and enjoying the natural environment, with the walk about 2 miles in sun and shade, around the large pond that has a rookery island.

Participants can expect to spot a wide variety of ducks, shorebirds, and other native and migratory species—often 40 to 50 bird species on a single walk. Unlike wooded hikes, much of the bird activity here takes place above the lake, making it a great opportunity to “keep your eyes to the skies.”

    What to Bring:
    – Binoculars
    – Comfortable walking shoes
    – Weather‑appropriate clothing
    – Curiosity and a willingness to learn

This walk is designed for birders of all skill levels, including beginners who want to learn more about the birds they may see every day but don’t yet recognize.
