LAKEWOOD RANCH WATERSIDE SALES TOP 100
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Sales at Lakewood Ranch Waterside have reached a major milestone, with 100 homes sold since the first builder opened its doors just over a year ago.
Waterside is the Ranch’s newest village – located east of I-75 and south of University Parkway – and The Ranch’s first foray into residential development in Sarasota County.
There are currently two neighborhoods selling in Waterside: Shoreview, in which Pulte is building, and LakeHouse Cove, with Homes by Towne, Lee Wetherington, and Arthur Rutenberg. The first residents began moving in six months ago.
Scott Zelniker, a former resident of Country Club East, chose to move to LakeHouse Cove, sold on the community’s proximity to the numerous lakes and its focus on lifestyle.
“This new lakefront opportunity felt different,” Zelniker said. “It’s not about golf for us, so this was perfect.”
For others, the nature, trails, and dining options won them over.
“Just about every day we ride our bikes on the trails or walk around the lake to see the sunset,” said Mark and Mary Fraser, who live in Shoreview. “What’s not to like? Everything is nearby. The wildlife on the lakes and in the preserves is abundant. It’s great fun.”
Eventually, the community will feature 12 compact, walkable neighborhoods connected to a vibrant, mixed-use center via trails and waterway. Waterside, when complete, will consist of 5,144 homes including apartments, condos, townhomes and single family homes, with a wide variety of price points. Waterside is being built around seven lakes, with more than 20 miles of shoreline, acres of nature preserves, an 8-acre waterfront park, and an interconnected trail system.
An official groundbreaking will take place Oct. 4 for Waterside Place, the village center, with an estimated completion date of 2020. Waterside Place will include apartments, restaurants, retail shops, professional offices and the Players Centre for Performing Arts, all within walking distance of every residence. A marina and water taxi are also planned.
Waterside Place helped sell many of the residents.
“Living in a brand-new community within the well-established amenities of Lakewood Ranch is ideal,” said LakeHouse Cove resident Mike Collins. “We are particularly excited about lakefront “wining and dining” in the new Waterside Place.”
For fellow LakeHouse Cove resident Mike Downes, his neighborhood, combined with the upcoming Waterside Place, created an irresistible package.
“Waterside represents to us the ideal slice of Americana that we’ve searched for in a neighborhood: walkable community spaces, active lifestyle options, beautiful resort-style amenities, dining and shopping options galore … all in a gorgeously manicured landscape in harmony with Florida’s natural beauty,” Downes said. “Having seen firsthand how (Lakewood Ranch) Mainstreet has fully delivered on its promise of becoming the hub of family-friendly fun and community activities, we have full confidence that Waterside and LakeHouse Cove will exceed our expectations when fully completed.”
Waterside builders are pleased with the progress as well.
“It looks a lot different than a year ago,” said Pulte sales representative Andrew Basco. “We appreciate all our ‘pioneers’ who took the leap of faith that Waterside is going to be the amazing place we all dreamt.”
For Lee Wetherington Homes, the landmark is déjà vu.
“We recall the excitement back in the 1990s when the new community ‘Lakewood Ranch’ reached the 100-sale milestone,” said Gregg Carlson, CEO of Lee Wetherington Homes. “It is very exciting to have been a part of that historic event and still here today to contribute and celebrate the same for Waterside.”
The construction of Lakewood Ranch Waterside included the added benefit of much-needed regional infrastructure, including the extension of Lorraine Road as a four-lane thoroughfare to Fruitville Road, which was complete September of 2017, updates to Deer Drive, and the extension of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard to Fruitville Road, which began in July of this year.
