Did you know that anyone born on or after January 1, 1988, must have a Boating Safety Education ID Card to legally operate a boat in Florida?
The “America’s Boating Course” is being offered by the Manatee Sail and Power Squadron (a unit of the United States Power Squadrons/Americas Boating Club) on Saturday, July 19 & 26, 2025. The course meets the State of Florida boating safety certificate requirement, is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and NASBLA, and is designed for anyone who either owns or operates a boat or may be a passenger in a boat. Experienced mariners will teach you what you need to safely operate a boat. We will explain the laws, describe required equipment, and teach you the basics about navigation aids, VHF radios, anchoring, docking, and much more. There is no minimum age to take the class. However, to be eligible for the Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card, participants must be at least 14 years old.
